Hosting a cacao ceremony can be a beautiful way to bring people together—whether you're holding space for a meditation, intention-setting circle, or simply creating a moment of connection. Preparing ceremonial cacao for a group has never been easier. Just decide how strong a portion you want to serve, warm up your (oat)milk, blend & serve!
Step 1: Decide on the Ceremonial Cacao strength
The first step is choosing how strong/ thick you'd like each serving of ceremonial cacao to be. This depends on the context of your gathering:
Portion Type | Cacao per person | When to use it |
---|---|---|
Meditative | 1 scoop / sachet (18g) | Ideal for when cacao is one element of a larger event or gentle meditation |
Ceremonial | 2–3 scoops / sachets (36–54g) | Best when the event is centered around the cacao ceremony as the main practice |
Tip: A ceremonial dose creates a more noticeable emotional and energetic shift, while a meditative dose keeps things lighter but still grounding.

Step 2. Heat (oat)milk
Use 12 cl (or 120 ml) of your preferred plant-based milk per person. Oat milk is a popular choice due to its creamy texture and mild flavor, which complements cacao beautifully.
Heat it to 60°C (140°F). This step is important. If the milk gets too hot, the cacao may lose some of its beneficial compounds and become thick or gloopy. If it’s too cool, the drink won’t be as comforting or smooth.
Tip: If you don’t have a thermometer, aim for “steaming but not boiling.” You should be able to dip a finger in for a second or two without burning.
Step. 3. Blend & Serve
Add your ceremonial cacao blend to the warm milk and blend thoroughly until smooth and frothy. You can use a handheld frother, blender, or whisk.

Once prepared, serve the cacao into cute small mugs. Before drinking, invite everyone to hold their cup with intention—infusing it with gratitude or a personal reflection. A short meditation or breathwork exercise is a great way to help everyone be present before sipping.
